Why the cans smell
Oroville’s green cart is a biology experiment.
Recology’s 3-cart program put food scraps in the green organics bin. In 100° valley heat that lid becomes a hatchery. A garden hose just bathes the bacteria. We wash, degrease, and deodorize.

Do you clean all three Recology carts?
Yes. Oroville’s mandatory 3-cart service is gray (landfill), blue (recycling), and green (organics). Most neighbors book the 3-cart package because the green organics cart is the one that actually smells.
How do the volume discounts work?
Cart count first: $30 for one, $40 for two, $50 for the Recology set. Quarterly is 10% off that rate. Bi-yearly is 20% off.
When do you come?
The day of, or the day after, your Recology pickup — once the carts are empty. We text the night before and again when we’re done, with before-and-after photos.
How do you clean the bins?
We wash, degrease, and deodorize the interior, lid, and rim with environmentally safe products. No bleach dumped in the gutter.
